The early ancestor, George Poindexter (1627-1692), was a son of Thomas Poindexter born on Isle of Jersey and his wife, Elizabeth Efford. He was a merchant. He came to America about 1657. He married Susannah Nichols (Nicholle) (1638-1693) in England. He died in New Kent County, Virginia. Descendants live in Virginia, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, New York, North Carolina, Michigan, Colorado, Arkansas, Kansas and elsewhere.

Includes Bard, Harrell, Hauser, Jones, Knox, Kreager, Martin, McFall, Scott, Smith, Vest, White and allied families.
