Notes

James Lowry (1771-1854) was born in Virginia, probably in Goochland County. He married Nancy Wood in Fluvanna County, Virginia, in 1795. They had eight children, ca. 1796-ca. 1816. The family migrated to Kentucky before 1810, settled first in Caldwell County and then moved to Hopkins County before 1840. Descendants of their sons, William Lowry (1804-1836) and John Lowrey (1806-1874), listed lived in Kentucky and elsewhere. The surname is also spelled Lowery and Lowrey.

Includes the Goss, Ordway and other allied families.
