Norfolk County became extinct in 1963 when it was consolidated with the city of South Norfolk to become the independent city of Chesapeake.

Loose wills were enclosed in plastic protectors, and the protectors were bound into books.

Wills are arranged in loose chronological order. Books for wills 1693-1778 are individually indexed. Will vols. 1-8 are not individually indexed. However, if the date of the will can be found in the will records, then the original will can be found.
