History of the Booher family originally of Germany. The Buchers (as they were known in Germany) left their homeland in the early 1700s and landed in Pennsylvania becoming prominent in Lancaster County. John and Martin Bucher left Pennsylvania and purchased land in Virginia and North Carolina which area in 1796 became Sullivan Co., Tennessee. It was in Virginia that the name Bucher became Booher. Some early descendants migrated to Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
