"This listing of the the [sic] cemetery records of Jefferson Co., WV, covering the years 1978-1997, was compiled in order to update the book prepared by the Bee Line Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and published in 1980. ...In the DAR book, the information was derived from a survey of the cemeteries in the county. The information contained in this listing was obtained by a review of the obituaries published in the Spirit of Jefferson Advocate, a weekly newspaper, published in Charles Town, WV."--Introd.

Over half of the obituaries found in the newspaper were not used in this book as they pertained to people being buried outside Jefferson County. Only those obituaries pertaining to people being buried in the county were used.

Cemeteries are arranged in alphabetical order. Burials are arranged alphabetically under each cemetery. Burial entry gives name of deceased, birth date if known, death date, parents' or spouse's names, and sometimes other information such as military unit.
