Francis Keen came ca. 1783 from Loudoun County, Virginia, to Fayette County, Kentucky. His wife was Mary Gist, the daughter of John Gist. They had 6 children. Francis died between 1816 and 1818. Descendants lived in Kentucky, Florida, and elsewhere.

Includes the related families of Gist, Bowman, Markey, Graves, Shackleford, Payne, van Houton-Gurnee, and others.
