Alexander Stewart was born in about 1713. He married a daughter of Hugh McTavish in West Otter Ferry. They had at least three sons and three daughters. Alexander died in 1771 and was buried in Kilmory. Descendants and relatives lived in Argyllshire, Glasgow, Ontario, Canada and elsewhere.
