Samuel Tribble (1771-1814) was born in Albermarle County, Virginia, the son of Andrew and Sarah Ann Burris Tribble. He married Mary (Polly) Martin (1772-1851) ca. 1791 in Clark County, Kentucky. They had twelve children, 1792-1813, all born in Clark County. Their son, John H. Tribble (1803-1844), married Malinda Bragg in 1826 in Clark County. They had seven children, ca. 1827-1840. Descendants listed lived in Kentucky and Missouri.

Ancestors include: Peter Tribble (ca. 1650-1738) of Yorkshire, England, and Caroline County, Virginia; John Burrows (fl. 1635-1650) of England and James City, Virginia; and Martin Martin (fl. 1698-1710) of New Kent and Goochland Counties, Virginia.
