This book updates Winstead Family in America by Michael Kalen Smith.

John Winston was born before 1555 and married Johane Skerrels in Yapton, England in 1571. His great grandson Samuel Winstead (Winston) (ca. 1671-1726), was born in Lancaster County, Virginia and died in Northumberland County, Virginia. Samuel's son, Samuel (1701-ca.1774), was born in Northumberland County.

Joseph Winstead was born ca. 1725/30 in Northumberland County, Virginia, to Samuel Winstead, Jr. (1701-1774). He married Ann and they had 6 children. Joseph died in 1794 in Nash County, North Carolina. Descendants lived in Alabama, North Carolina, Florida, Utah, Texas, California, Arizona, and elsewhere.

Includes the related families of Bass, Cobb, Cockrell, Davis, Edwards, Ellis, Fisher, Johnson, Jones, Jordan, King, Lamm, Langley, Manning, Miller, Parker, Pridgen, Smith, Sykes, Turner, Vickers, Webb, Williams, and others.
