John Davis was born in 1599 in England. His children were John, William and Thomas. Thomas' son John Davis married Susannah Day. Their children were William, John and Thomas. Thomas married Sarah Fielding. Their children were Edward, John, Richard, William, Susannah, and James. James married Mary Elizabeth Carter. Their children were Fielding, James, Elizabeth, Snead, William, Mary, Felix, Charles, Thomas and Benjamin. Benjamin married Elizabeth Davis. Their children were James, Lewis, Richard, Benjamin, Asa and Elijah. Elijah married Elizabeth Jones Davis. They moved to Barren County, Kentucky from Charlottesville, Virginia in 1821. Their children were Thomas, William, Phileomon or Philip, Ellias, Martha, Margaret, Andrew, Desdemona and Elizabeth. William Janes or Jeanes was born in 1610. He married Mary. Their children were Joseph, Elisha, Nathaniel, Abel, Abigail, Ruth, Jacob, William, Rebecca, Jeremiah, Ebenezer and Jonathan. William's son Michael had a descendant named Joseph. Joseph married Lydia. Their children included Rachel, Thomas and Joathan. Joathan or Joe married Margaret. They lived in Indiana and Kentucky. Their children were Clariss, Amanda, Elizabeth, Amander, Laura, Rachel, Josephine, John, Edward, Benjamin, Nicholas and Valentine.

Other surnames include Tarter and Carter.
