What is in This Collection?
This collection contains index & images of passport registers from the region of Leiria from the Arquivo Distrital de Leiria in Portugal. From the middle of the 19th century to the late 1950s, nearly two million Portuguese left Europe to live in Brazil and the United States. Passports applications in Portugal are made in person at a district government civil assistance center and overseas at a consular office.
