Denmark, Estate Records, 1436-1964
Records created by estates across Denmark. Some estates cover multiple counties. In addition to records pertaining to the management and operation of the property, the estates also served as probate authorities and military conscription districts for persons attached to the land. The records can also include valuable genealogical and biographical information on the families that owned the estates. The originals of these records are deposited at the National and Provincial archives of Denmark.

This collection contains records of Danish estates ranging from the year 1436 and ending in 1964. Some estates cover multiple counties. Estate owners were granted broad powers by the government to act in several official functions. They maintained their own records of military conscription, probate, tax, and land usage.
