What is in This Collection?
This collection includes National Archive film indexes to compiled military service records for volunteer soldiers, 1784-1811 (NARA M694); soldiers who served during the Indian Wars and Disturbances from 1815-1858 (NARA M629) and the Philippine Insurrection, 1899-1901 (NARA M872). It includes individual state indexes for the Cherokee Removal: Alabama, (NARA M243); Georgia, (NARA M907); North Carolina (NARA M256) and Tennessee (NARA M908). The Creek War: Alabama (NARA M244); the Florida War: Alabama (NARA M245); Louisiana (NARA M239); the Patriot War: Michigan (NARA M630); and New York (NARA M6310). The War of 1837-1838 in Florida Louisiana (NARA M241).
The compiled service records are abstracts from original muster rolls and pay rolls and other records. See rolls 39-41 and rolls 82-87 for the Philippine Insurrection. The indexes are part of RG 94 Records of the Adjutant General's Office. The compiled military service records are located at the National Archives. Additional records and/or images may be added to this collection in the future.
