What is in This Collection?

This collection contains militia lists of men serving from 1917-1918 between the ages of 18-22 and 23-45. Each year the county assessor was to make a list of all persons eligible for enrollment in the militia who lived in the county, basically any male age 18-45. Copies were to be provided to the County Clerk and to the State Adjutant General. By WWI, the assessor was skipping the clerk and providing copies to the County Commission and to the Adj. General.[1] The collection covers Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County and was acquired from the Utah State Archives (Record Series 10321), though access to any original records should now be through the Salt Lake County Archives.
