What is in This Collection?
This collection contains probate records for the years 1814-1917. Probate packets genearally contains multiple documents related to the settling of a deceased person's estate. Hawaii was a Territory of the United States from 1900 to 1959 when it became a state. In 1795 King Kamehameha I established the Kingdom of Hawaiii, which lasted until 1893 when it was replaced by a provisional goverment which continued until th eestablishment of the Republic of Hawaii in 1894. Hawaii was annexed by the United States in 1898.
