This collection is comprised of Treble Almanacs that were published from 1783-1829. The Treble Almanac encompasses three publications: John Watson Stewart's Almanac, Exshaw’s English Court Registry, and Wilson's Dublin Directory. What is in This Collection?
The Treble Almanacs consist of three separate printed works:
- John Exshaw’s English Court Registry, also known as The English Registry, listing royalty, government officials, peers, earls, members of Parliament, members of orders of honour, professors of the universities of Cambridge and Oxford, and military officers. During times of military conflict with the French a list of ships in the French navy was also included.
- John Watson Stewart's The Gentleman's and Citizen's Almanack, containing broad breadth of information such as the terms of court, births and marriages among European royalty, English and Irish government officials, lists of peers, guild representatives, college faculty, academy members, staff of hospitals and orphanages, locations of post offices and schedules of mail coaches and packets.
- Peter Wilson's Dublin Directory, a trade directory listing merchants and traders in the city; a list of city officials, ministers, members of the legal and medical profession, and an alphabetical list of Dublin's "streets, lanes, alleys, quays, courts, etc."
