The collection contains the names of Irish paupers (later known as Robinson Irish settlers) who migrated to Ontario, Canada, and settled at Newcastle District. The names were originally published in a parliamentary paper in response to a Commons request for information about the publicly funded settlement. This collection was provided in coordination with FindMyPast.

What is in This Collection?
The information in this collection was originally published in Parliamentary Papers, Session 1847-48, Vol. XLVII, p.705. This report addresses the condition of Irish paupers from County Cork, who were given land in the townships of Ashpodel, Douro, Dummer, Emily, Ennismore, Ops, Otonabee and Smith between 1825 and 1828. The plan was locally administered by Peter Robinson, Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of Ontario.
