This collection contains vital records (civil registration) from the Republic of Kiribati from 1890-1991. Kiribati consists of three island groups: Gilbert Islands, Phoenix Islands, and Line Islands. Prior to independence from the United Kingdom in 1979, it was divided into six districts:
- Banaba
- North Gilbert Islands
- Central Gilbert Islands
- South Gilbert Islands
- Line Islands
- Tarawa Atoll
