What is in This Collection?

This collection contains indexes and images of parish registers from Norway. It contains records of births, baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and deaths. This collection contains records from 1815, but may include some records beginning in 1814. The earliest parish register in Norway is from Andebu, Vestfold, in 1623, but the church did not begin keeping records across the entire country unil 1688. A standard format for parish registers was approved in 1812, but did not begin to be used until 1814.

Additional records and/or images may be added to this collection in the future.
