2nd Regiment, Alabama Reserve (63rd Regiment Infantry)
2nd Reserve Regiment [also called 63rd Regiment] was organized in July, 1864, at Montgomery, Alabama. Many of the enlisted men were between the ages of sixteen and eighteen and were from the southernmost counties of the state. With less than 100 men, it surrendered with the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana.
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
