History

The County of Blekinge was created in 1683. It is the smallest county by geographical area in Sweden. The boundaries are identical to Blekinge landskap (Blekinge Province) that pre-dates the county. Before 1997, the county bordered with Kronoberg, Kalmar and Kristianstad Counties. Blekinge lies along the Baltic coast in the southern part of Sweden.
