BOTHAMSALL (St. Mary), a parish, in the union of East Retford, Hatfield division of the wapentake of Bassetlaw, N. division of the county of Nottingham, 4½ miles (W. N. W.) from Tuxford. There is a tumulus, called Castle Hill, a little westward from the village of Bothamsall. 
Bothamsall Our Lady and St Peter was formed as an Ecclesiastical Parish in 1841 from Elksley, Nottinghamshire Ancient Parish.
