Brookings South Dakota Family History Center

Brookings SD Family History Center serves Brookings and adjacent counties and welcomes all who want to find, identify and preserve their ancestral family.

Open Hours:

  • Tuesday: 1:00pm - 4:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 6:30pm - 8:00 pm (Call ahead)
  • Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday by appointment--to make an appointment please contact:

Holiday and Other Closings Schedule:

  • Closed 1st weekend in Apr/Oct for General Conference. Closed Christmas and New Years Day weeks.
  • Closed most major holidays.
  • Special Weather Related Closing -- Winter storm warnings, 0° F or below temps, icy roads -- call Pat Walker before visiting.

Collections

  • FamilySearch Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the FamilySearch Catalog but we encourage you to choose the Brookings Public Library as your default film receival location--for a wider choice of hours and reader printer and digital film copier.
  • Patrons' Microfiche Collection -- a collection of fiche ordered by our patrons, assorted titles. Contain family histories, vital records, and other types of information.
  • Indefinite Film Collection -- a collection of films on a variety of subjects, to include vital records, county records, court records, etc.
