Parish History

COGGESHALL, GREAT (St. Peter), is a market town and parish, in the union of Witham, and in the Witham division of the hundred of Lexden, it is in the N. division of Essex, 3 miles (N.) from Kelvedon. Coggeshall was comprised of the parishes of Great and Little Coggeshall, the two parishes have been consolidated. There are places of worship for Baptists, the Society of Friends, Independents, and Wesleyans.[1]
