The Irish Times is working on a digital archive of their newspaper issues since 1859. The official launch of the full archive has not been announced yet but you can start browsing the archives now. The archive starts at:

Note that there are two archives – a text archive and a digital archive. It’s best to search the digital archive – the text one only goes back to 1996.

A full search by keyword can be done for the past 30 days, the past year, or a range of dates. Terms can be the name of an individual, a place name or a term. For example, 256 articles were found in the digital archive by selecting the years 1859-1870 and the terms registry deeds.

An index search is free. A fee is required to read an article online. You also have the option to buy a high-quality reproduction of a single page. See the Web site for more information.
