Known Issues

NOTE: For a way to determine what digital records are likely to be found within a collection or how to find missing images elsewhere, see Article 56000, Using Film Notes in the Catalog to determine the content of a final browse point in Historical Records.

Question #1: The Event Type and Year Range (browse point) title does not properly reflect the actual digital record content. Is there a way to determine what digital records are likely to be found within a collection?
Answer #1: The following list of known browse point discrepancies describes the event type or year range that actually exist in this collection:
La Libertad > Colón > Índice de nacimientos 1887-1923 year span should be 1887-1932.
San Vicente > San Vicente > Nacimientos 1819-1879 year span should be 1865-1877, 1879.

Question #2: The birth years for records with an Event (birth) Place of San Salvador, San Salvador, El Salvador and a GS Film number: 1156755 seem to be incorrect. How can I determine the correct birth year?
Answer #2: In a record detail page, if the GS Film number field is listed as 1156755, the birth year may be incorrect. To determine the correct birth year, view the image first (El Salvador, Civil Registration, 1815-1910 > San Salvador > San Salvador > Nacimientos 1889-1894 Image 755-1522 of 1522). Unless the actual image of the birth registration indicates that the record is a delayed birth registration and lists a specific birth year, the Image Number field located within the record detail page will determine the birth year, as follows
• Image Numbers: 3-234 - Birth Year should be: 1895;
• Image Numbers: 235-543 - Birth Year should be 1896 (images 338-350 are indexes with year 1896); and
• Image Numbers: 544-767 - Birth Year should be 1897.

Question #3: The birth years for records with an Event (birth) Place of San Salvador, San Salvador, El Salvador and a GS Film number: 1156759 seem to be incorrect. How can I determine the correct birth year?
Answer #3: In a record detail page, if the GS Film number field is listed as 1156759, the birth year may be incorrect. To determine the correct birth year, view the image first (El Salvador, Civil Registration, 1815-1910 > San Salvador > San Salvador > Nacimientos 1905-1905 > Image x of x). Unless the actual image of the birth registration indicates that the record is a delayed birth registration and lists a specific birth year, the Image Number field located within the record detail page will determine the birth year, as follows
• Image Numbers: 3-405 - Birth Year should be: 1905; and
• Image Numbers: 406-769 - Birth Year should be 1906.
