FamilySearch Indexing: US, Maryland and Delaware—Freedmen's Bureau, Register of Pensions and Bounty Claims, 1865–1872, Additional Helps
NOTE TO Arbitrators: Please use the record matching feature to match up (move around), or add images where needed BEFORE arbitration. This will ensure the highest percentage of accuracy for the indexer.
MULTIPLE NAMES ON AN A IMAGE:
When there are multiple names listed on a image, EACH must have it's own record unless specifically identified as a family member OR if the individual is an officer, commissioner or administrator. For example, if there are 6 individual names listed on a receipt, each with their own payment amounts, there should be 6 records for that image. If a name appears more than once on an individual image, it should be skipped. Please note that relationships between names should not be assumed.
HANDWRITTEN NOTES with names:
When there are handwritten notes, review the text carefully. Any names in these which are not officers, commissioners or administrators should be indexed on individual records.
CONSECUTIVE IMAGES with repeated names
When there are multiple consecutive images with the same names, treat each image as separate, creating records for each relevant name on the image.
