Parish History

Hockley, is a village and a parish in Rochford district, Essex. The village stands on a hill, 1 1/2 miles S of the river Crouch, 4 miles NW of Rochford, and 6 miles N of Benfleet railway station. There was a pumproom with a medicinal spring, which later was used as a Baptist chapel. [1]
