KEGWORTH (St. Andrew), a parish, in the union of Shardlow, hundred of West Goscote, N. division of the county of Leicester, 11 miles (S. E. by E.) from Derby. At Isley-Walton is a chapel of ease. There are places of worship for Baptists, Independents, and Wesleyans. 
On the 8th of January 1989. British Midland Flight 92, a Boeing 737-400, crashed onto the embankment of the M1 motorway nearby when attempting an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport. Of the 126 people on board, 47 died and 74 sustained serious injuries.

An extraction of names from John Charlton's Will who was living in Normanton Upon Soare, Nottinghamshire, being requested to be buried in the Chapel of Kegworth, near to his mother as possible. Transcription gives a list of names, relationship, to John Charlton, and some where they lived, and their occupation.
