  • Thursday:10:00am-2:00pm
  • Saturday:10:00am-2:00pm .....Closed the 1st Saturday of the month.


Holiday Schedule:

Closed Tuesday, Thursday daytime hours in July:  'Closed Tuesday evenings in August: Closed Thursday, November 26, 2015: Closed  Tuesday, December 22, 2015- Reopen on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.  We are closed when Jefferson County Schools are closed for bad weather.

RESOURCES IN THE LOCAL AREA

The Louisville Genealogical Society -

  • The Louisville Genealogical Society Library is located across the hall from the Louisville Kentucky Family History Center. You may access the library during the hours that the Family History Center is open and during, or after the Louisville Genealogical meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month.
  • The founder of Louisville Genealogical Society, Jane Turner Hamm, began teaching genealogy classes on February 14, 1980 at Senior Citizens East. Upon completion of the course, Jane’s students wished to continue meeting and made the decision to form a society. The first meeting took place on July 2, 1985, with 16 in attendance. Fast forward to the present, when membership exceeds 300.
  • The 2016 Family History Seminar & Book Fair will be Saturday October 15, 2016, with nationally known Pam & Rick Sayre, as our keynote speakers and lecturers, as well as numerous genealogy classes offered, a silent auction, vendors and societies. 

Finally, the LGS has its own small library with various reference books, genealogy journals of various states and family surname folders that researchers may visit either during or after meetings or by requests made to the LDS Librarian during their hours.
