Manitoba Online Databases
These are genealogy links to Manitoba Province online databases to assist in researching your family history. This Online Collection has links to online databases and indexes that may include birth records, marriage records, death records, biographies, cemeteries, censuses, histories, immigration records, land records, maps, military records, native races, newspapers, obituaries, or probate records.

The indexing of records is often an on-going project. Some collection indexes give no indication if they are a partial index or complete. If the name you are researching does not appear in an index, re-check the index at a later time or search for the record in the available original images. Some indexes are handwritten and a part of the image collection.

Ancestry.com, FindMyPast.com, and MyHeritage.com can be searched free of charge at your local Family History Center or the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Probate Records
  • Manitoba Probate Records, 1871-1930 Images of all individual probate files, including wills. A very valuable resource if the deceased ancestor died with a will. There is an index microfilm to identify the microfilm of interest.
  • Manitoba Probate Records, index and explanations only. This website is a good place to learn the details about the probate system in Manitoba. The index here corresponds to the original probate record Manitoba Probate Records. A good search strategy is to use this in combination with the scanned familysearch probate records (below). This will skip the step of needing to search through the index images. Keep in mind that Winnipeg = Eastern Judicial District; Brandon =Western Judicial District; Minnedosa = Northern Judicial District; and Portage la Prairie = Central Judicial District. Government of Manitoba uses the former labels, familysearch Probate records uses the latter.
