Windows Easiest Methods

To type a special character, using an Alt keyboard sequence:

1. Press the Num Lock key to activate the numeric key section of the keyboard.

2. Press and hold the Alt key.

3. While the Alt key is pressed, type the sequence of numbers (on the numeric keypad) from the Alt code in the table below.

4. Release the Alt key, and the character will appear.

Mac OS Easiest Methods

1. To type any international character, including umlauted vowels and the three extra Norwegian vowels, simply press and hold the keyboard letter most similar to the letter wanted. A pop-up menu will appear with a list of alternate characters. Click on the desired character and it will be inserted.

For capital letters, press and hold the shift key and the desired base letter. A pop-up menu will appear with a list of capital alternate characters. Click on the desired character and it will be inserted.

2. Cut and paste any of these letters you need:
