History

Roskilde was one of the original amter of Denmark. It was unchaged by the reform act of 1793, but in 1808 it was annexed to Copenhagen County. In 1970 the county was recreated by the Communal Reform Act. On 1 January 2007 it was made part of Region Zealand.
