The Salem Utah Family History center serves the Salem Stake and Salem West Stake.

Jan 15 – Lesson One - “My Family Tree is Full of Nuts and Other Good Things.” A class on basic navigation in FamilySearch.

Jan 22 – Lesson Two - “My Family Tree is Growing Oranges Instead of Apples.” A class on cleaning up Family Tree.

Jan 29 – Lesson Three - “Pruning My Family Tree.” A class on how to merge duplicates and fix a bad merge.

Feb 5 – Lesson Four - “Branches on the Tree.” A class on attaching sources.

Feb 12 – Lesson Five - “Fertilizing Your Tree.” (This is a new class) Learn the research process.

Feb 19 – Lesson Six - “Twigs on the Tree.” Finding “COUSINS” who need temple ordinances using descendency research.

Feb 26 – Lesson Seven - “Making Your Tree Bloom.”  Preserve and share your precious family memories.

Mar 5 – Lesson Eight - “Building a Treehouse.” How to use FamilySearch more effectively and faster.

Mar 12 – Lesson Nine - “Build a Bigger Treehouse.” How to use Ancestry.com to find hidden treasures for your Family Tree.

Mar 19 – Lesson Ten - “Growing Trees.” Using Google to find more information about your ancestors.

Mar 26 – Lesson Eleven - “Trees that Jumped the Pond.” Using the FamilySearch partners, Find My Past, My Heritage and Geneanet, to find sources.

Apr 2 – General Conference - NO CLASS

Apr 9 – Lesson Twelve - “Colonial Trees and Hidden Roots.” Using the American Ancestors website to find sources. Finding other websites to aid in your research.

Apr 23 - Lesson Thirteen - "Tree Rings." Using clues to date and identify people in old photographs.

Collections

  • FamilySearch Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the FamilySearch Catalog.

Databases and Software

  • FHC Portal This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions.

Hardware and Equipment

  • 14- Windows 7 computers, laser printers, 1 fiche reader and 3 film readers, 2 deck scanners
