History

1855 Seward County was created 6 March 1855 from Cass and Pierce (old) Counties. County seat: Seward [2]

Description

Seward County was organized in 1867. It was originally called Greene County, and in 1862 it was renamed in honor of William H. Seward, United States Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson.[3]
