Can't find an article I know exists
Although there is an article titled 'Abbreviation HCP entry in the 1880 U.S. Federal Census', when I search for 'HCP' nothing returns.
Response: There is a configurable minimum and maximum word length limit for searches - the minimum(ft_min_word_len) is currently set to 4. Therefore any searches on words smaller than 4 characters will not return any matches Kip 11:34, 28 December 2007 (MST)
Can this be changed from four to three? Will that cause any problems? Darris 11:59, 28 December 2007 (MST)
On January 3, ft_min_word_len was changed to 3 so that 3-character entries can now be searched. Kip 09:00, 8 January 2008 (MST)
I just created an article with the title African American Place of Origin. Afterwards I did a search using African American Origin and my article did not appear on the returned screen of "hits". Seems like it should have. Jison 10:10, 25 March 2008 (MDT)
Response to African American Place of Origin question: Did you click on 'Exact Match' or the 'Search' button? You won't find it with an exact match, but you should find it by clicking the 'Search' button (I did). Kip 11:53, 25 March 2008 (MDT)

It appears that the search tool does not search for abbreviations. I tried PRO (Public Record Office) and TNA (the National Archives) and those terms are not returned in a search either. The abbreviation PRONI does come up in a search though.
Has anyone looked into the settings for the search tool?
Is there someone assigned to work on search?

This page looks like a mistake, although there is some discussion on the talk page. There is no content. James L. Tanner 14:45, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
