Extension for opening in new window?

Is there an extension or is there a code for use in the Wiki that will cause the external link to open up in a new window? It could be that the user want to retain the original page. dsammy 21:19, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

External links already open in a new window by default, so I don't understand.... Ritcheymt 18:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

I found the answer near the bottom of that site you referred to, there is a bit of extension to do it. dsammy 18:50, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Sammy, do you have an example that an external link does not open a new window? This was a subject that was brought up a while ago and has been implemented. I have tried external links and these links do open up a new window. I am wondering if you are seeing a link that is messed up for some reason. Or, maybe it is something with your browser? When only a sysop will do . . .

The page that talks about how to delete a page says that only a sysop can perform this function. Can that page be altered to explain how to find a sysop and have them take care of this function on a weekend. Otherwise I'll loose a precious opportunity to move a portal to a page (Germans from Russia) of same name. Spare hours to work on this don't come very often. And rather than miss the opportunity it is just easier to manually move the portal and loose all the history that was associated with it. Diltsgd 19:02, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
