I was born and raised in North Carolina and have lived here all my life.

I have been doing genealogical research since 2002. I much prefer looking at original documents and have been known to travel six hours to a repository and return home the same day. That makes for a long day, but all the available documents are in one spot. One answer usually leads to another question heretofore unknown. I think it is far easier, and faster, to deal with unknowns on site. My interests include North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee with occasional forays back to early Virginia. Over the years I have become quite proficient at reading old handwriting in documents written in English back into the 1600s. Maps, photography and cemeteries are other interests.

As my username suggests, I am a member of the FindaGrave community. I also edit Wikipedia, primarily spelling, grammar and broken links or missing source citations; pretty much just error correction. I research anything and in the process learn a little about everything and a lot about some things.
