Michael Ritchey previewed today's agenda
A report on the progress (or lack thereof) in studying Wikipedia's policies and procedures regarding dispute resolution between contributors was given by Jimmy Parker. Michael Ritchey announced that Fran Jensen has accepted an assignment as a team lead regarding the policies and procedures and principles of the FamilySearch Wiki.
Michael introduced everyone to the new look of the Navigation Bar on the Research Wiki and invited all to offer feedback on that new look. It was emphasized that this new aproach is not "set in stone," but that it can be tweaked as necessary. A new heading, "Community," was added, and the contact information was placed at the bottom of each page. A brief discussion ensued on the difference between principles (high-level guiding statements), policies (rules of engagement), and procedures (how to carry out tasks).
Banning, blocking, and deleting has been removed from the tasks and authority of Moderators, at least until further decisions have been made regarding the ways of handling these items. That will be a major focus of the next sprint, which will start in just a few days.
Flags regarding deleting, merging, inappropriate content, etc. were discussed and Fran Jensen introduced users to those currently available. More information is available by searching for "Maintenance Template"
