In 1887, John Bartholomew's described Hendon like this:

West Hendon, Middlesex. Hendon, parish and village with railway station, Middlesex, 7 miles NW. of London.[1]

Preferred Name: WEST HENDON. Unit Type: Ecclesiastical Parish Status: Ecclesiastical Parish (after 1896) Date created: 1896.[2]

Additional information:

St John Algernon Road, West Hendon was a lately-built district church created in 1896, lying within the civil parish boundaries of St Mary, Hendon.
