  • 4th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry
    Organized at Macon City, Point Pleasant and Grafton, W. Va., June 17 to August 22, 1861.
    Consolidated with 1st West Virginia Infantry December 21, 1864, to form 2nd West Virginia Veteran Infantry.
  • 5th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry
    Organized at Ceredo, W. Va., September 2, 1861, and mustered in October 18, 1861.
    Consolidated with 9th West Virginia Infantry November 9, 1864, to form 1st West Virginia Veteran Infantry.
  • 7th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry
    Organized at Portland, Cameron, Grafton, Wheeling, Morgantown and Greenland, West Virginia, July 16 to December 3, 1861.
    Mustered out July 1, 1865.
  • 8th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry
    "Compendium of the War of the Rebellion" by Frederick H. Dyer contains no history for this unit.
    Organized in the Kanawha Valley in the fall of 1861 with volunters from Boone, Clay, Fayette, Jackson, Kanawha, Raleigh, Wyoming Putnam, Mason, Logan and Braxton Counties.
    ("7th West Virginia Calvery"; FHL US/CAN 975.4 M2t).
    January 26, 1864, the unit designation was changed to 7th West Virginia Volunteer Cavalry
    ("7th West Virginia Calvery"; FHL US/CAN 975.4 M2t).

    Organized at Camp Pickens, Canaan, Glenville, Clarksville, Sutton, Phillippi and Piedmont March 12 to May 18, 1862.
    Duty near Richmond till August. Mustered out August 9, 1865.
  • 11th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry
    Organized at Wheeling, Elizabeth, Burning Springs, Parkersburg, Ravenswood, Kanawha Station and Point Pleasant, W. Va., October 29, 1861, to October 8, 1862.
    Duty near Richmond till June, 1865. Mustered out June 17, 1865.
