Chapelry History

Ashton-under-Lyne St Peter was a chapelry  from 1799 within the parish  of Ashton under Lyne St Michael, Lancashire

The Parish is within the Ashton deanery and Rochdale Archdeaconry of the Diocese of Manchester but historically prior to 1847 was part of the Diocese of Chester. Ashton-under-Lyne, par., parl. and mun. bor., SE. Lancashire, on river Tame, 5 miles E. of Manchester and 188½ miles from London . [1]
