Chapelry History

Astley Bridge St Paul is a chapelry created in 1844 from, and lying within the boundary of  Little Bolton All Saints, Lancashire  Ecclesiastical Parish and  Bolton le Moors St Peter, Lancashire Ancient Parish. Other places in the parish include: Sharples.

St. Paul’s, built in 1847-8, was consecrated by the first Bishop of Manchester, James Prince Lee on the 22nd June 1848.The modern Parish is within the Walmsley Deanery of the Diocese of Manchester.

The Wesleyan Methodists built a place of worship here as well.
