FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Centre, a branch facility of the Family History Library.

The Calgary Alberta Family History Centre is dedicated to providing education and support for the Family History community in the Calgary area. Our staff of about 30 volunteers are here to help you in your research.

CENTRE INFORMATION

  • We are located on the lower level of the building. The entrance to the Centre is on 19A Street S.W. Please park in the lot directly east of the Centre. Press the Black Button beside the double doors on the east side of the building to ring the front desk. A staff member will answer and admit you.

Regular Hours of Operations

  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Holidays:

  • During July and August the centre will be closed on Saturdays.
  • Closed Saturday of long weekends and General Conference.

POLICIES

  • Our Centre is Fragrance Free due to some of our staff and patrons are allergic.
  • No food or drinks are allowed.
  • Children under 12 must be accompanied and monitored by an adult.

January 26, 2017 - FamilySearch Wiki
Learn how to effectively use and to contribute to the FamilySearch Wiki. This class will include how the Wiki can help you quickly learn what resources are available for your research areas. For those experienced researchers, here is your chance to give back to others, by learning how to contribute to the Wiki.

February 23, 2017 - Finding New Relatives by Sourcing
As records are sourced, we often find more relatives. This class will focus on how to attach record sources in FamilySearch and what to look for that will lead to finding other relatives. Both the built-in FamilySearch sourcing tool and the third-party tool, RecordSeek, will be demonstrated. Although the class will focus on sourcing in FamilySearch, the same techniques can be applied on other genealogical sites.
