The county is named after Charles Carroll (1737-1832), a signer of the Declaration of Independence.[1]

Parent County

1851--Carroll County was created15 January 1851 from Pottawattamie County. It was attached to Shelby and Guthrie Counties prior to organization 17 August 1855.  County seat:  Carroll [2]
