The term Hessian may refer to:
- a person from one of the areas of Germany called Hesse,
- or, a mercenary soldier hired by the British to help fight in the American Revolution.
This category refers to the latter.
As a hired man, an individual Hessian's contract could be, and often was sold usually to an individual American farmer as a laborer.
