San Angelo, Tex., Feb. 1.-News has just reached here that the records of Coke county were destroyed by fire Friday night at Robert Lee, the new county seat which was moved from Hayrick by a small majority vote on the 6th of last month. No clew is known as to who perpetrated the deed. This makes the second time during the last twelve months that the Coke county records have been destroyed by fire.

The county was named for Richard Coke (1829-1897), Texas governor and United States senator, son of John and Eliza (Hankins) Coke, was born near Williamsburg, Virginia, on March 13, 1829.
