Colne Christ Church, Lancashire Genealogy
Colne Christ Church was, according to Samuel Lewis, topographer, created "a chapelry in Colne parochial chapelry, lying within the boundary "of Whalley" Parish and Deanery of the Diocese of Manchester from 1847 in the county of Lancashire. It was created in 1836 from Whalley, Lancashire Ancient Parish. It was one of 5 such chapelries whcih came under ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the "parochial chapelry" of Colne (which also see)--all within the parish of Whalley.
The Diocese of Blackburn is a Church of England diocese, covering much of Lancashire, created in 1926 from part of the Diocese of Manchester. The Diocese includes the towns of Blackburn, Blackpool, Burnley, and the cities of Lancaster, and Preston, as well as a large part of the Ribble Valley.
