Edgefield District was known as a distrct from 1800 to 1868. In 1868 the legislature designated Judicial Districts as Counties. For complete information go to [[Edgefield County, South Carolina|Edgefield County.]]
 
 
Edgefield District was formed 2 March 1785 from [[Ninety-Six District, South Carolina|Ninety-Six]] District. The district was reorganized in 1865 to [[Edgefield County, South Carolina|Edgefield County]]. No further divisions occured.
