Chapelry History

FAILSWORTH, a township, with a district church, in the parish of Manchester, hundred of Salford, S. division of the county of Lancaster, 4¼ miles northeast by east from Manchester. The church district was created by 1844. The church, St. John's, was erected by 1846.

The dissenters have a place of worship in the township.[1]

Failsworth St John was created a district chapel in 1844 from Manchester our Lady, St George and Denys ancient parish.
